The Heart

This morning while reading Dr James Richards book “Moving your invisible Boundaries.”  I had no idea  my next lesson in the journey course was going to touch on the heart. That is what I was reading about this morning in chpt 2 titled Defining the Heart.

You are only comfortable living a life within the bounds of who you believe yourself to be.    Dr. Richards

Proverbs 4:23 Guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life.

Why would every boundary in your life come from your heart? Simple! If the heart is the real you, you are only comfortable living a life within the bounds of who you believe yourself to be. The skills I learn, the information I ingest, and the training I complete will do little to move me beyond my current circumstances, unless I change the beliefs of my heart … change my sense of identity. This is why many people can help others, but not themselves. They pass along the information to those who will believe and apply it, yet they do nothing with it themselves. Dr. Richards Moving your invisible boundaries.

Jay Stringer ” your identity is an ongoing process of discovering and refining who you really want to be. God gave you your heart and you will be restless until you discover whats truly inside of you.” From the video Futility in episode 10 The journey course.

All of this brings us back to Identity. Who does God say you are?

It is time to remove the veil and surrender your opinion on how you see yourself.

Mat 16:18 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

I submit to you to ask the question,  Lord who do you say that I am?  And when you ask you will know.

  1. This really speaks to me this morning.

Identity. Who does God say you are?

Character. More so the people on earth use this term to say who we are. By definition it is
1.the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual.

Our character, the way we live and act. Our actions that people see and experience. That is how they see who we are. I have always said I want to leave behind a good character. I wasn’t people to see a good character in me. When I leave this world I want them to know my character.

You are only comfortable living a life within the bounds of who you believe yourself to be. Dr. Richards

    This is so true.

I believe character and identity are remotely the same however, or identity with Christ may be different from our character. Christ may have given us our identity but are we comfortable pushing the boundaries of our heart and move it to character? Living it out?

Today I am asking myself what does my identity say? Which is what God says I am and what does my character say?

    Thank you for this post!
