Chapter 11

Transforming self learning to love and care for yourself.Unwanted.

How sexual Brokenness reveals our way to Healing.

DIsarming the power of Shame.

Of all things that I’ve had to deal with shame is obviously one of the worst.

Shame convinces us that we are unwanted, and we pursue behavior that confirms it. To find Freedom, disarm the power of Shame. Quote from Unwanted.

Shame is the painful experience that something you have done or failed to do has made you unwanted or Unworthy of belonging. Quote from Unwanted

For me personally when I have gone down the road of unwanted sexual behavior I never realized that shame is what drove it, I thought looking at it brought shame. In other words shame is a byproduct of looking at pornography but it is also a precursor.

There is a story of a cameraman who would film great white sharks. He was asked how do you film a great white when it’s coming right at you? He said you swim towards it. This action triggers a defense mechanism in the shark. The shark is like, wait a minute, everything swims away from me but this is coming towards me. The cameraman is now not acting like prey, so the shark doesn’t treat him as prey.

Shame is the great white. We have to learn to face it. Every time Shame comes or raises its ugly head many times we run from it instead of facing it.

Num 21:6 — Num 21:9
Then the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people, so that many people of Israel died. And the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD and against you. Pray to the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people. And the LORD said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent and set it on a pole, and everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.” So Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on a pole. And if a serpent bit anyone, he would look at the bronze serpent and live.

The Lord sent the snakes and then he literally made the Hebrews look at the very thing that was killing them to be healed. The burning question for us today is how far are you willing to address the shame that you may have?Stop right now close your eyes and ask Holy Spirit.Where did my shame start?

Jesus got placed on the cross and we have to look at him to be saved to be healed.
