Challenging Times

This is from a friend of mine that I wanted to share.

Joshua was is charge of leading the Israelites to the promise land after Moses’ death. God gave specific instructions to be courageous, meditate on the Word day & night in order to prosper & succeed. Recently, I received an encouragement to do just that, meditate on the Word.
When I hear the term meditate, it makes me think of putting on an oversized robe, sitting Indian-style, eyes closed and making a “ummmmmmn” sound.
Although this is a form of meditation, this is not what God meant!

The Hebrew word for meditate is hagah- means to murmur, talk, speak, imagine, study.

When you are faced with challenges, uncertainty looms, the odds are not in your favor, things seem impossible, stop and Hagah- (the Word day & night) to watch things flip the other way. Hagah can grow faith out of fear, turn beliefs into a knowing and flip nervousness into courage.

Jos 1:7-9
Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.

Joshua 1.8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Joshua 1.9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Seize the day.
