Why is forgiveness so hard sometimes? You know you need to do it and you might even feel like you have. But then all the signs are there that you really have not forgiven. I have seen it time and time again on Ministry events that I’ve been on. Men will say oh yeah I forgiven him a long time ago. But you can see it in their face and hear it in their words……. their tone. It’s just lip service.
I have often noticed that these same men have said, I have forgiven my brother or my friend or my dad or my spouse………. they will also say in the same breath “I can’t hear God”
Truth is when you are walking in unforgiveness or any sin it separates you from God and makes it very hard to hear his voice or to receive his truth.
The other thing that happens is that you start seeing everything through the lens of unforgiveness which taints everything.
I’ll never forget on my quest when I heard this phrase………
Lord when “name” stands before you on Judgement Day, please forgive them for what they did to me.
Luke 23.24. Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots.
This hurts to read. Not hurt, as in painful, but as in, this cuts deep. I’ve been struggling with forgiveness of a certain individual, and then seeing the statement you’ve made below, “Lord when “name” stands before you…” really makes me certain that I’ve been paying nothing more than lip service. Thank you for these words Kee! I love hearing from you! I hope all is well with your family, and I miss yall.
