I’m Third

Luke 10.27 And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”

This has to be one of the biggest takeaways from my many years of going to Kanakuk Kamp. The I’M third story came from the founder of Kanakuk Kamp coach Bill Lantz. Not only was he the founder, but he was also a winning coach at high school for 35 years.

The story that strikes me the most, though, is the second I’m third story that they told. Captain Johnny Ferrier was an ex camper. He flew jets in an air show and had a malfunction. He chose to stay in the jet to keep it from crashing into homes instead of bailing out and saving his own life.
Living the I’m third life is the total opposite of being selfish
God first, the other person second, and I am third.

“God first, the other person second, and I’M THIRD.” A happy way to live… the best way to live… the only way to really live… but impossible without the example and powerful life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ… the man who loved us enough to go to the cross, who was man enough to say, “Father, forgive them,” who was humble enough to wash dirty feet… and perfect enough to be the Son of God.
Joe White president Kanakuk Kamps.
