To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you. Louis B. Smedes
You’ve heard that not forgiving someone is like drinking poison and hoping the other person will die. When I heard the quote from Louis, it was A New Perspective.
Think of those individuals that are jacked up right now because they can’t forgive somebody for what they did. Little do they know they have put themselves in their own prison.
What about those who haven’t forgiven someone for what they did and since that transgression they have passed away.
Luke 4:18“The Spirit of THE LORD JEHOVAH is upon me, and because of this he has anointed me to preach The Good News to the poor; he has sent me to heal broken hearts and to proclaim liberty to captives, vision to the blind, and to restore the crushed with forgiveness,” The Aramaic Bible in plain English
I went through about 30 Bible versions before I came across this one. Where it says to restore the crushed with forgiveness. Love this version. That crushed person could be you.
Love God with all your heart love your neighbor with all your heart and most importantly love your enemies.
Be Jesus with skin on.
Not only do you restore the person when you forgive them but you yourself have become restored.
There comes a point where you have to let go of Who You Think You Are. And lay a hold and come into agreement of who he says you are. A lover of all people. The righteousness of Him. You are as you ought to be, righteousness, the condition acceptable to God.
This is so good Kee! Thank you for sharing and bringing clarity and hope!
