Proverbs 18:2
A fool takes no pleasure in understanding,
but only in expressing his opinion. ESV
Prov. 18:2. A [self-confident] fool has no delight in understanding but only in revealing his personal opinions and himself. AMP
When I read this Proverbs this morning my first thought was this. How many times have you been in a conversation with somebody and as soon as you take a breath they jump in and start talking?
What if you did that to Jesus?
My thought process is always are you listening to me? Or are you just waiting for me to shut up so you can talk? Listening needs to be your top priority. You don’t always have to give your opinion. You could just listen. How many times have you listened to what Jesus had to say and he didn’t agree with your opinion? Who’s right? Or better, how many times have you been listening to Jesus and then you interrupt him and give your opinion? Yeah but……. but you dont understand? Didn’t you see what he did to me? Didn’t you hear what he said to me? Nobody ever listens to me!
Do you want to be a fool or do you want to surrender your opinion? I want to die to myself, be a disciple and have a teachable spirit, in other words listen to what Jesus is telling me and know that it is truth and then apply it to my life. Repent…….
“Sons want to be like the Father they love and admire. Disciples want to be like their teacher. The way of the disciple is a life of transformation. When you feel challenged, just remind yourself, I want to be like Jesus. He showed me the character of God!” Dr Richards
Boy…. you hit it good this morning. I when on a call last week and the person kept telling me can I finish. Wow! So I really need this .
