How many?

John 18:3 (ESV) 3 So Judas, having procured a band of soldiers and some officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, went there with lanterns and torches and weapons.

The word band has a very powerful meaning here

g4686. σπεῖρα speira means 500 to 1,000 Roman legionnaires

This doesn’t even include the Temple Police.

Jesus knew they were coming saw them coming and knew what they were going to do and then this happens next.

John 18:4-6 (ESV) 4 Then Jesus, knowing all that would happen to him, came forward and said to them, “Whom do you seek?” 5 They answered him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, “I am he.” Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them. 6 When Jesus said to them, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground.

500 to 1,000 Roman legionnaires Temple Police and leaders of the Pharisees all fall to the ground.

There is power in the name of Jesus. This next Passage is what Jesus was doing when they asked him who he was.

John 17:26 (ESV) 26 I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”
