Spend time in the word, that is an interesting phrase.
Think about that for a moment, look at that phrase.
“Spend time in the word.”
We all know that “word” Translates to Logos in the Greek.
We are not through, there is more. What else does it mean?
Logos in the Greek also translates to “divine expression” (Christ)
WORD is also translated 7 times and it means “Christ”
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 (ESV) 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Read again but interject the name Jesus in place of word.
John 1:1 Kevin’s paraphrase In the beginning was Jesus and Jesus was with God and Jesus was God.
John 1.14 And Jesus became flesh and dwelt among us.
Last thing
When John wrote the word ‘with’ in our English translations – in the Greek text, the word is pros, P-R-O-S. It means much more than just simply being with. What it means is in the beginning was the Word and the Word was turned toward the Father. In the beginning was the Word before creation and the Word was face to face with the Father. That’s what pros means.
So in short when you go and get in the WORD you’re going to spend time with Jesus who at one point was and still is face to face with the Father.
He knew you were going to spend time with Him before you did.
