The 12

Jesus sends the 12

It’s one thing to read about the 12 being sent out, but when you watch it on The Chosen and you see the fear in some of their eyes. It puts the passage in a whole new perspective. Those 12 disciples were fixing to get stretched beyond what they could comprehend. Go in pairs with the shirt on your back, no money, and no food completely relying on the Lord for everything. I personally don’t think they had any idea that they were going to be sent out. That they were always going to be with Jesus everywhere he went.

Matthew 10:7-10 (ESV) 7 And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay. 9 Acquire no gold or silver or copper for your belts, 10 no bag for your journey, or two tunics or sandals or a staff, for the laborer deserves his food.

By comparison, that would be like getting dropped off in a third world country and being told to go minister and love on people with only the shirt on your back, no money, no cell phone and no food. I personally have a hard time thinking that I could do that. However, if the Holy Spirit is telling you to do that, then you will be supplied.

They were told, “I have instructed you to heal the sick raise the Dead cleanse the lepers cast out demons. But they were still fearful even after being told that. Some were more fearful than others. But they still went out and they did it.

Matthew 10:1 (ESV)
1 And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.

I think there are many times that he asks us to do something and you know it’s him because it makes you feel very uncomfortable. You know you’re going to get stretched, and so you have a choice.

Stay where you are or be empowered by who he is in you and take care of business.
