The last couple of days, I’ve really been thinking about the phrase “break my heart for what breaks yours”
I have often wondered if I am allowing myself to be desensitized with my sin. Here is what I mean. I look at something inappropriate, I say a curse word, judge somebody. let something really bother me, and I get angry about it.
There are times that my sin really bothers me and then there are times that I feel like it doesn’t. That’s what I don’t like
I more or less think, “Oh well, I’ll pray, (1 John 1.9) ask for forgiveness, then be prayed over by a righteous man (James 5.16) so I can be healed and move on with my day.
I think about Nehemiah and how he wept and mourned for days. I realize he’s not weeping over his sin, but he is weeping over the wall of Jerusalem that has been breached, its gates gutted by fire.” I wonder is that the Brokenness that I’m looking for?
Lord, break my heart for what breaks yours.
Nehemiah 1:4 (ESV)
4 As soon as I heard these words I sat down and wept and mourned for days, and I continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven.
I don’t want to think I’m humbling myself when I say I’ve got stuff we all got stuff as an excuse…… no we don’t!
We are the righteousness of God in him. We are as we ought to be! I think when you say we got stuff, we all got stuff. It’s just a lame excuse to sin. To rationalize what we have done.
When I get up in the morning I have to make the decision. Put on the robe of righteousness or not and leave it hanging in the closet. The robe of righteousness is the correct choice
2 Chronicles 7:14 (ESV) 14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
I will be defined by his righteousness in me.
Romans 1.17 Herein lies the secret of the power of the Gospel; there is no good news in it until the righteousness of God is revealed! The dynamic of the gospel is the revelation of God’s faith as the only valid basis for our belief. The Prophets wrote in advance about the fact that God believes that righteousness reveals the life of our design. “Righteousness by his (God’s) faith defines life.”
Break our hearts oh Lord break our hearts, come and heal our land, come and heal our land
