The Chosen: Jesus gives us the Beatitudes
Matthew 5:43-45 (ESV) Love Your Enemies
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
A pastor is preaching about how not to let your past dictate who you are. While he is preaching, a girl on the front row starts going into convulsions, and she throws up . She’s hysterical, and people come to help her, and he just kept on preaching because.
Holy Spirit told him, “I got this you keep going.”
After he’s through with his message, he goes down and sits and speaks with the woman, and she tells him her story about what happened when she was 6 years old, she is now in her early twenties.
She tells the pastor her story. when she was a six-year-old little girl over in Africa she witnessed her 11 siblings, mom and dad murdered while she was hiding in the bushes muzzling her dog so they wouldn’t find her. There is a lot more to the story but these are the main points.
The Lord used his message in such a way that it absolutely wrecked her. She said she hated God. Because he allowed this terrible thing to happen to her family. She was a 6-year-old Christian and has been hating God for almost 20 years she said.
While he was preaching, the overwhelming thought came over her that she had been deceived. Nobody told her,
“Nobody said this was what’s wrong with you.” Holy Spirit revealed it to her. She said 11 siblings didn’t die that day 12 did, and I’ve been dead ever since.
Then she said, “God, please forgive me.” In that moment, everything changed for her. Here’s the most exciting part for me.
Nobody prayed for her it was just a divine appointment, she heard. She got revelation, and she got free. She didn’t even want to come to church that day.
She forgave those men. Those men will never know that this young lady forgave them. It doesn’t matter it’s not about them. The other part of the story is that the Christian leaders of that small village went and gave those men food and water and showed them the love of Jesus in spite of what they did.
Ephesians 4:32 (ESV) 32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
I leave you with this.
What are you holding on to? What are you bitter about? Stop, close your eyes, and ask Holy Spirit right now.
Matthew 5.45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven.
