Overcoming Negative Thinking: A God-Centered Perspective

I heard Graham Cooke say this “I will be glad when this is over.” This means you can’t be glad right now.

I also think when you have the thought process “I’ll be glad when this is over,” You stop seeing God in your circumstance And you’re looking to the Future Where there is no God, It’s just you And your thoughts

Paul Young called that future tripping

I wonder when Jesus was on the cross did he think to himself. I’ll be glad when this is over? Maybe He thought, I am here for you.

I can’t tell you how many times I have used that phrase ”I’ll be so glad when this is over.”

I think to myself many times, don’t speak negative over yourself, don’t speak death over yourself.  When I would say this phrase I never looked at it that way.  It is true, I’m telling myself I can’t be glad right now until whatever I’m going through is over. Makes it hard to count it all joy when I’m speaking bad things over myself.

In a message titled  the language of Heaven by Graham Cooke .  Graham says  and I quote . ” Jesus is in every circumstance. God’s promise is bigger than the circumstance. His provision is bigger than the problem.

It’s about a different way of thinking.  That thought, I’ll be glad when this is over comes from the world, it’s not from God. So once again, I need to change my thinking to…… Seeing Jesus, God, Holy Spirit in every situation that I am in.

You are reflecting on a shift in mindset. You are moving away from a worldly perspective, like wanting a situation to just be over. Your focus is shifting toward a God-centered perspective, where you seek to see Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit in every moment. This aligns with biblical ideas like Romans 12:2, which talks about renewing your mind to discern God’s will, or Colossians 3:2, which encourages setting your mind on things above, not earthly things.

“I am so excited I’m going through this trial I can’t wait to see what’s on the other side.”  That doesn’t even sound right, does it?

What’s at the end of this trial? This type of thinking is much better. It’s an improvement over sitting on the pity pot thinking, oh my gosh, I’ll be glad when this is over. I can’t stand this stuff. Who wants to be here? It’s that kind of thinking that hangs a chain around your neck and binds you up.

Who wants to be there? God is there!

I submit, because of this stinking thinking you’re stuck in this trial. You’re not even trying to get out of it. You just want to complain. God is so much bigger than your circumstance. Look to him and rest. He is in the waiting.

James 1:2. Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance, and perseverance much run its course so that you may be complete lacking in nothing.

Take courage my heart,  stay steadfast my soul. He’s in the waiting, he’s in the waiting. Hold on to your hope as your Triumph unfolds he’s never failing Kristene DiMarco
