It’s Friday and I am to be finished today with this job. All my drives to work literally take me an hour. Yesterday morning, I had a nice long drive. I started future tripping. My attitude took a turn for the worse. I basically meditated on the wrong thing.
Future tripping is a phrase coined by Paul Young. This occurs when you start judging or thinking about a negative outcome of something. You imagine the situation, and God’s not in the picture. We all do it. We start thinking about worst case scenarios negative self-talk I go on.
I’m 10 minutes away from the job. I just decided that I need to go into this with a good attitude. I believe that everything is going to work out.
Future tripping is such wasted energy. We got there at 8:00. We did our job. She loves what we did, and she’s ecstatic. It’s 11:30, and they wrote me my final check. All is good.
John 15:11-13 (ESV) 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
12 “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
Life is so much easier when you stay at rest. When your focus is on who you are in Jesus. It’s very easy to forget who you are. This happens when you’re caught in future tripping and thinking about negative outcomes. Love Jesus love yourself and love your neighbor.
