I love the passion translation of John 16:8.
Most translations say convict but in the passion translation it says expose.
John 16:8 (TPT) 8 And when he comes, he will expose sin and prove that the world is wrong about God’s righteousness and his judgments.
I like the thought process where the Holy Spirit exposes our darkness and unbelief so we can see Jesus. That’s my opinion anyway.
g1651. ἐλέγχω elegchō. B. by conviction to bring to the light, to expose
Many times in my silent times with the Lord things come up that I don’t often think about. They are exposed and now I choose to bring it to the light
Being convicted is like having a sentence handed down. And I certainly don’t feel like that when something gets brought to the light.
How did you feel the last time Holy Spirit exposed you?
John 16:13 (ESV) 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
Holy Spirit Will Come He will guide you He will expose what needs to be exposed and then Freedom comes next
Hey Kee, I love this differentiation between expose and convict! I’m on a walk and sense the Holy Spirit exposing some places where I need to go to Him instead of expecting it from people or things. He is definitely exposing it for my good and not convicting me.
Have a great day brother
