The Vengeance of Our Lord

In Isaiah 61 verse 2

Isaiah 61:2 (ESV) 2 to proclaim the year of the LORD’S favor,
and the day of vengeance of our God;
to comfort all who mourn;

Jesus quotes a lot of scripture from the Old Testament because the Old Testament is about him. I find it very interesting in Luke 4 verses 18 and 19 that he leaves out one phrase at the end of verse 19 as he quotes Isaiah.

Why do you suppose that is?

He leaves out the day of Vengeance of our God.

Luke 4:18 (ESV) 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed,

He leaves it out, because God is not a vengeful God, God is love, we are called to love well to love all people.

I am grateful that the God that so many people believe is vengeful, is not the God that I believe in. A vengeful God would not send his son to die for me or to die for you.

A vengeful God would not send his son so through him you would know the love of the father.

Of course this is my opinion.

Rest in him
