Telling your story

Has your story reduced you to just trying to get by in life?

Scripture says always have a reason for the hope that you have. If your story is about your Pain and not about your freedom this can be difficult to tell.

1 Peter 3:15 (ESV) 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,

So many people tell their story to other people but not for the reason that you think. They tell their story because it’s who they are . They tell their story because it’s their identity. They tell their story because they want you to have sympathy for them.

That used to be me. I used to tell people within the first minute of meeting them that I was a recovering addict from drugs and porn. It did not matter who you were. I wanted you to know who I was

I wore my identity of being a recovering addict on my sleeve. I wanted everybody to know . I didn’t want them to know that I was Jesus was skin on. That was secondary always. My focus was that I was in recovery and not that I was healed. I remember like it was yesterday. I was on a ministry event and the facilitator came up to me and literally said. “stop telling people that you are a recovering addict. That is not who you are.” It was like the Lord was speaking to me. Everything shifted in that moment, it was like I was set free. Jesus didn’t come so I could be in recovery He came to set me free. Next to my salvation this was just as important. Just because I was saved didn’t mean I was free.

Do you tell your story to justify where you’re at, or do you tell your story to change? This was me.

Some people have a story for where they’re at. But where they’re at doesn’t produce Jesus. So then there story Can’t be about Christ. Their story is about them. They tell their story in such away too justify why they are there. Why they are stuck. Some people don’t even realize they are stuck. If you tell your story from your pain, I submit that is not where God created you to be.

Is your experience greater than Jesus?

Get free and tell your story through the freedom of Jesus

Matthew 6:22 (ESV) 22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light,

When your eye is healthy, This is what I believe will happen. Those who are involved in your story and those you tell your story too will be seen in a different light

You will see them and yourself the way God sees you.
