I wrote this:
God is not directly after your sin. He wants you! A close relationship with you is His desire. I mean like talking and knowing each other.
All that religious shaming, feeling you are not good enough, people telling you that you have to quit sinning, and perfect obedience crap you are used to hearing can go in the trash. God is about relationship and love. Read Romans 8:1
He’s is not waiting for you to clean up or quit anything. He is waiting on you to love Him back and discover your original design. He wants to forgive you for trying to make it without him and choosing things that, well, aren’t Him. Everything humankind has ever done wrong was corrected, forgiven, forgotten, and this is forever! Jesus did this for us. (Hebrews chap 10)
It’s time to relax and let Him provide and lead. God made a plan for you to rest every day. Rest while you work, rest while there is trouble, rest when there is a virus pandemic, and rest when nothing seems like it is going right. This rest is possible when we trust Him.
When our behavior is out of line with our design, it’s because we don’t believe who he says we are. Once we start trusting Jesus, having a relationship with him, and believing we are sons and daughters of God: the crap we do wrong begins to go away because we think differently. This process is what is meant by the word repentance. Repentance means to believe and act differently AFTER we receive a new truth. It is a process.
Religious (those who focus on rules instead of having a relationship) people and churches point out sin and focus on behavior. They preach about sin. Try to be perfect and end up very hypocritical. They make rules God never asked them to make about don’t do this, don’t eat that, don’t join that political party, you are wrong if you, etc…
Here is what Jesus said, and I quote, “Are you tired, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your Oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways, and you’ll discover that I am gentle, humble, and easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.” Matthew 11:28 TPT
Sounds pretty good. Jesus said to believe in him and not be ashamed of him. That is his requirement. The rest works out as we learn to trust him and remember to be God’s kids.
