“God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6).
James 4:6 His gift of grace (1:17) is in direct opposition to the vanity of the proud mindset of self effort, whereby people strive to prove themselves as superior to others! Gift and reward are opposites! Humility attracts grace. The Mirror
I am reading in John Maxwell’s book Everyone Communicates Few Connect and he has a quote in there from Rick Warren who advises that humility comes from:
*Admitting our weaknesses
*Being patient with others weaknesses.
*Being open to correction.
*Pointing the spotlight at others.
I would like to think that I do fairly well in all four of these areas. Having said that, I need to do better in all four of these areas.
Colossians 3:12 You are the product of God’s love; he restored you to his original thought. You belong to him exclusively. It is like changing garments. Now that you have gotten rid of the old, clothe yourselves with inner compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience, (Just like you were once identified by your apparel, the characteristics of these qualities define you now.) Today walk in humility
