Overcoming Limiting Beliefs: The Heart’s Role

The heart is the gatekeeper of your life. No matter what you intend to do, the deep thoughts of your heart will ultimately determine what you actually do. Until you change the beliefs of your heart, you will always revert back to what you truly believe about yourself.” Dr Jim Richards

I think another way of saying this is that when you get put under a lot of pressure many times you will revert back to your old ways.  Instead of trusting what you’re hearing.

John 10:3-4 To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.

Changing the beliefs of your heart is all about trusting what you hear the Lord say about who you are. For me that’s easier said than done. I know that I still have some deep rooted wrong beliefs. Working on it.

You can hear the truth about who you are. This truth can actually counteract the lies that you believe about yourself. On the flip side though it’s easy to be comfortable with those lies. The next lie you believe is that you’re more comfortable in your old self. You think it is better than allowing yourself to be transformed.

Just my thoughts.

Proverbs 4/23 so above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are. Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life
