How do you know me?

John 1.48 Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” John 1:48

John 1.50   Jesus said, “So you believe because I said that I saw you sitting under the fig tree? You haven’t seen anything yet! (By this Jesus does not mean the many miracles he is yet to witness, but rather, that his mission was to introduce us to ourselves again, so that we may know even as we have always been known! We have forgotten what manner of people we are! He knew us before he formed us in our mother’s womb! James 1:17, 18, 23-25. Jer 1:5; 1 Cor 13:12.)

How many times does Jesus see us sitting under the fig tree.

What does that look like for you?

What does the Fig Tree represent?

Have a great day!

  1. I really love this Kee! I’ve often read this but never asked myself the questions you posed.

I think Jesus sees me everytime i am under the fig tree. I don’t always realize but I am always seen.

What does it look like? Most recently I have sensed that He meets me right where I am whatever mood or situation I am in. He will cause something to happen so I notice that He notices and cares for me and mine

What does the Fig Tree represent? Man, you’ve got me there . I’m going to infer that it’s wherever I park up in life. Even if I am in disbelief. Nathaniel never expected anything good to come from Nazareth but lo and behold that all changed for him in that moment when He was seen by the One who sees him all the time!

    I’ll keep thinking on this!
