Matthew 6:6 (ESV) 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
4.15 am. This morning during my contemplation phase it was very difficult it seemed like. My mind was all over the place, but I sat there, just sitting in peace.
Whenever my mind would go running I would just say the name of Jesus take a couple deep breaths and then I was back to where I was. But then I was off chasing another rabbit, but the peace never left.
So when I say give yourself permission. What I mean by that is when you sit down to contemplation and your mind is going all over the place. It is okay, give yourself permission for your mind to go all over the place and then get back to where you were. It sounds crazy but it works.
This morning out of the blue (go figure) I got a visual of a huge cedar tree growing beside my house I reached down to pull the tree up and it broke off flush with the ground. First of all I didn’t think I was that strong. When it broke off I hear “the root is deep and you didn’t get it any of it.” My next thought was what the hell does that mean? I didn’t hear or see anything after that.
You know, I think, we think, that we’ve already dealt with everything and then Holy Spirit shows us that there’s something we haven’t dealt with. At this moment I have no idea what that is.
6.08 am This contemplation was this morning between 4:15 and 5:00 now it’s 6:08 and I hear “the reason the tree broke off at the root is that you were trying to pull it out on your own strength. You’re not strong enough to pull the root out on your own.” I know that but didn’t realize I needed to be told that again. Didn’t realize I was trying to pull the root out on my own. I try so hard to stay out of the Trinity’s way way. And sometimes I think I’m totally in their way.
Just sit in silence with him and Let Jesus pray for you.
Matthew 6:8 (ESV) 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
