The new little dog part 6

We have a new dog. We have a half Boston Terrier half red heeler puppy. This is our first dog since we had to put down our little pin pin 10 years ago.

Two things came up this morning.

Proverbs 12:10 whoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast, but the mercy of the wicked is cruel.

Our little puppy is almost house trained, Almost.

Yesterday I was just getting ready to take her out to go to the bathroom and she took a crap right in the middle of the kitchen. I swatted her right on her hindquarters and she let out a Yelp and went and hid under the table. This was the first time in 7 weeks that I had literally disciplined her. It brought back very bad memories of my dog from 10 years ago. How that little dog have been traumatized by her previous owner and I exasperated the situation.

I immediately called her up on top of the Ottoman and just let her lick my face and apologize. It is absolutely amazing how quickly dogs are forgiving. To a point.

This morning I hear basically if you can’t show Grace to your little 3-month-old puppy then how would you ever show Grace to your neighbor and on top of that you’re sure as crap won’t be able to show Grace to your enemy.

We all have behaviors that are so entrenched that we think they’re normal. Change starts with the heart. Bad behaviors have to be broken and many times it’s painful but the rewards are so much better.
