Mary was triggered

We watched 3 episodes of the Chosen last night season 2. The scene where Mary comes back after falling is so powerful. But it starts way before that. Mary is in the countryside picking pomegranates when a Roman soldier comes riding by and it triggers her by taking her back to old memories (history her past). Then later a demon possessed man comes into their camp and it is another trigger and she begins to believe the lie that she has never changed. (That is what I think anyway)

Jesus forgives Mary

She sneaks away and goes back to her old playground and now she has believed the lie that she is unworthy.

Have you ever been there? Have you ever done that yourself? I surely have. It is not a good place to be.

Jesus asked Simon and Matthew to go find her. They eventually find her but she does not want to come back and Matthew and Simon begin to speak truth to her.

Proverbs 27.17 as iron sharpens iron so one man sharpens another.

Mary decides to come back to camp but she is very fearful . She is afraid to see Jesus. (while I’m watching this I’m thinking……. the reason she’s afraid is because she feels that Jesus will reject her.)

Mary says, I don’t know what to say. Jesus says, I don’t require much. Mary says, I am so ashamed, you redeemed me and I just threw it all away. Jesus said, Well that’s not much of a redemption if it can be thrown away in one day.

How many times has your shame kept you from coming back to Jesus because you felt so unworthy because of what you did it?

Kēvins Paraphrase on Matthew 11.28. Come as you are and let me love on you

Matthew 11:28-30 28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” esv

Jesus just wants to love you

Deuteronomy 31:6 (ESV) 6 Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
