Who is the favorite?

I am listening and reading and watching dr. James Richards. The man is so deep I can’t wrap my brain around half the stuff that he saying.

This morning he is telling the story about how he used to get in a fight with his big brother and he would get his butt whipped every time. He remembers one time specifically where it was obvious that his brother started the fight, his brother did all the damage his brother is the one who broke everything. But this time he beat his brother’s butt. When his mother came and broke them apart she beat Dr Richards. The reason was because his older brother was the favorite. This brought up memories of my childhood when I would get in fights with my brother and even when he started it I was one who got in trouble because my brother is the favorite. This is definitely something that I wasn’t expecting this morning but that’s a story for another day.

The purpose of the story is that is how God treats us, he teaches us and treats us as the child he favors. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done where you’ve been where you’re going. You are his favorite and nothing can change that.

1st John 4:18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.
