Who sees you?

1st Corinthians 10:31 whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of God..

I was really touched this morning and it really caused me to think when I read the devotion out of Oswald Chambers His Utmost for His Highest.

Why do we do the things that we do for God? That I think is a simple answer, we do it because we love him it’s in our DNA.

When we do things for God, why do sometimes we feel we have to draw attention to ourselves?

Let me give a couple of examples, what if God has called you to buy a car for someone to bless them. You go to the car dealership and purchased the car, but you have to let everybody at the dealership know what you are doing. What I mean is you tell the salesman that you’re buying this car to give to somebody.  You tell the person in the finance department that you’re buying this car to give somebody.   You want to bless them because this is what God is telling you to do. You want everyone to know.

Here’s one for you this one is fairly common, I think. I’ve caught myself doing this. Maybe God wants you to buy someone’s lunch that’s at another table? You ask the waiter or waitress for their ticket, so you can buy their lunch. But you can’t leave it there you want to go on and tell them that this is something that you do all the time.  Now I am not saying this is a bad thing. What I’m saying is are you doing this to draw attention to yourself? Or are you doing this because God told you to?

Oswald says it is one thing to go through a crisis grandly, but another thing to go through everyday life glorifying God when there is no Witnesses, no Limelight, no one paying the remotest attention to us. If you are rightly devoted to the Lord Jesus, you have reached the sublime height where no one ever thinks of noticing you, all that is noticed is that the power of God comes through you all the time. It takes God’s spirit in this to make us so absolutely humanely his that we are utterly unnoticeable. The test of the life of a saint is not success, but faithfulness in human life as it actually is.

From what I understand from this devotion is that people are going to notice that you are a man of God because of how you carry yourself. Not by telling people what you’re going to do to bless other people.

One more example

The other day my wife and I were eating at one of our favorite restaurants. There is a young couple that has been working there for like 10 years and we always like to bless them. At the end of our meal I felt like we were supposed to give them a chunk of change. When I got back to the table and I mention to Kelly that I think we’re supposed to bless them today and she said I feel the same way. I said I have this in my wallet what do you think, she says sounds good to me. We got them both over to the table and I gave them the money and said we wanted to just bless you. Their response was why are you doing this? And I just looked at them and said the Lord told us to do this. They smiled and said thank you. If they hadn’t asked, I wouldn’t have said. There have been times though that people haven’t asked, and I told them anyway. Like I felt they needed to know that I was a Godly Man and God was talking to me.

God sees you, are you making it a point for other people to see you?

10:31 Live your life overwhelmed by God’s 1opinion of you! Your eating and drinking is certainly a constant reminder that you are his glory. Every meal proclaims the fact that the life of your design is redeemed again in Christ; salute life!

  1. I am crucified with Christ… how can He be seen if I still live. He loves me, he died for me and He has anointed my walk to increase His Kingdom. Who am I but the vessel that pours. My crowns that He has shall be thrown at Hid feet for without Him… I am clay with no Potter. Thank you for that word brother. This is a kingdom word and I pray it reaches all churches and they become His Church. Love you
