Proverbs 3:5

Proverbs 3.5 Trust the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean  on your own understanding.

When I think about this passage I saw this played out so well on Quest last week.

Things have shifted for me.   I am seeing more and more the importance of getting out of God’s way. (sometimes I am in God’s way and don’t even realize it,) We say we just set the table and you are invited, but it’s more than that. It’s listening to the other person.  Not so much what they’re saying but what they’re not saying. This week was very powerful because of this phrase.

You are invited.”

It takes all the pressure off.

As a disciple we need to learn, that you are invited and don’t lean on your own understanding. The answers are always within the other person if you will give them time to think, to ask and to respond.

You’re invited, I am for you, ask Holy Spirit and it’s okay.

There is strength in not needing to be heard.

I say this, the next time you have an opportunity to meet with somebody.   Look at it from this point of view, you are setting the table and they are invited. Your job is to listen to your spouse, kids, friends and always remember to give comfort.

Listen to them and listen to Holy Spirit.
