We all have our favorite lines from the movies. Clint Eastwood says, “Go ahead, make my day.” Captain Picard says,”Make it so.” Faora-UI in Superman Man of Steel says.
“A good death has its own reward“
When I think about that line and who I am in Jesus, it’s even more powerful. I have to die to myself, and when I do that, the reward is over the top. I think the rewards are endless.
Galatians 2:20 My name is Kevin and I have been crucified with Christ it is no longer I who live but Christ who lives Within Me and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the son of God who loved me and gave himself up for me.
Dying to yourself also means that you know who you are in Jesus. Dying to yourself means it’s going to be really hard to let things get to you. Dying to yourself is surrender.
Matthew 16:24 (ESV) Take Up Your Cross and Follow Jesus
24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
I truly believe this, but when you die to yourself, you will be resting in him. You will be at rest. You will be at peace.
Romans 8.10 The revelation of 1 Christ in you 1declares that your body is as good as dead to sin’s demands; sin cannot find any expression in a corpse. You co-died together with him. Yet your spirit is alive because of what righteousness reveals.
Dying to yourself could mean stepping into your own Darkness your own pain where Jesus will reveal himself.
Psalms 112:6-7 (ESV) 6 For the righteous will never be moved;
he will be remembered forever.
7 He is not afraid of bad news;
his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD.
