What are you thinking?

The mind is a terrible thing to waste. That used to be a tagline for a commercial on TV this started in 1944 and still Rings true today.

I think about that quote and wonder about the time that I waste thinking about worthless or inappropriate things.  Maybe it’s what I listen to. Maybe it’s what I let filter through my eyes.  I am finding for myself the more that I read positive readings. The more that crap still wants to sneak in there. I take those thoughts captive the best way that I know how. Sometimes taking that thought captive just once is not enough. Honestly sometimes I just want to give up, it is easier to give in, than it is to stay focused. I know it is a choice, so I must make better choices. 

This morning I was inspired by Philippians 4:8 sometimes you just need to be reminded of what your purpose is.

 

What is my purpose? My purpose is to stay focused on him. To be Noble, to be true and to be honorable and that’s just my thought life.  To value and respect people even if I don’t agree with their actions and their attitudes.

 

I value you.

Phil 4.8 now let this be your conclusive reasoning. Consider that which is true about everyone as evidenced in Christ. Live overwhelmed by God’s opinion of you! Acquaint ourselves with the revelation of righteousness; realize God’s likeness in you. Make it your business to declare Mankind’s redeemed innocence. Think friendship. Discover how famous everyone is in the light of the Gospel. Mankind is in God’s Limelight! Ponder how elevated you are in Christ. Study stories to celebrate life.

When I finished writing this morning I read my devotion and it tagged on to what I wrote so I included it. Very fitting.

 

Refuse to allow the circumstances of life to swallow you up so that you lose perspective.  There are things to do, but everything must be done from a position of order instead of chaos.  Be thoughtful in your process and apply divine wisdom.  Establish and maintain a solid connection with Me, says the Lord, and I will guide you.  Stay calm.  1 Corinthians 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
