Sabbatical

I was inspired this morning. Right in the middle of reading I hear the word sabbatical. My first thought was, it has been too long. The last time I took a sabbatical it was an incredible experience. 2009 I took a 4.5 day sabbatical “Wow” is all I can say.

When was the last time you got away and spent time with the Lord and just rested? I don’t mean time away with your family I mean, time away with your father in Heaven? The Lord says in Matthew 11.28 come to me , you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest

Isaiah 40:31 but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall Mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

This is not something I personally make a practice of doing. It is something that I think about though.  This is something that needs to be done. I get so wrapped up with work and going on Ministry events that I neglect the sabbatical time. This is one of my favorite scriptures in the Bible and I feel that it talks about taking a sabbatical and I love the truths that are in this.

Exo 34:23 — Exo 34:24

Three times in the year shall all your males appear before the Lord God, the God of Israel. For I will cast out nations before you and enlarge your borders; no one shall covet your land, when you go up to appear before the Lord your God three times in the year.

For me it has been too long, but my question is not only for me but it is for you as well. When was the last time that you got away for two or three days, no TV, no phone, just you and Him where you can just rest and listen?  I think it’s easy to be busy and forget that you need to spend time with him for several days.

It is time, are you being called to sabbatical? I believe I am.
